Director Reema Kagti has been championing a cause on social media, which fights for LGBT rights in India. The director is urging people to sign a petition filed by The Humsafar Trust, addressed to the Prime Minister of India, against Section 377 that criminalises homosexuality.

Talking to us about this, Reema said, “I am appalled at the meagre response. If I would have put up a picture of an actor’s ear online, asking ‘guess who’, more people would have reverted.

I urge people to sign the petition and say no to Section 377 as this takes our country back to the dark ages. I am a proud Indian but how are we a true democracy if we ignore the basic human rights? Which heterosexual couple has been arrested for indulging in anal sex? The minorities cannot be forsaken; you cannot victimise a certain section. India needs to be progressive.”
