Actor Rashmika Mandanna added another achievement to her career by winning the Best Actress award for her performance in the romantic drama 'The Girlfriend.' The film received positive responses from audiences and fared decently at the box office. Celebrating the big moment her husband and actor Vijay Deverakonda shared a proud message on social media. For the unversed the Government of Telangana recently announced the Gaddar Awards for 2025, and Rashmika Mandanna has been selected as Best Actress for her performance in 'The Girlfriend.'

Story of ‘The Girlfriend’

'The Girlfriend' was written and directed by Rahul Ravindran. The romantic drama revolves around Bhooma Devi, played by Rashmika Mandanna. The story follows Bhooma Devi as she falls in love with Vikram portrayed by Dheekshith, a college student. However her life takes a difficult turn when she realises she has been deceived and becomes trapped in a toxic relationship she struggles to escape.

The award celebration comes shortly after a major personal milestone for the couple as Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna recently tied the knot on February 26, 2026. The couple later hosted a grand reception in Hyderabad on March 4, which was attended by close friends and members of the film fraternity. After the reception Vijay and Rashmika posted a heartwarming video montage from the celebration on Instagram. The video shared as a collaborative post captured several beautiful moments from the reception evening.

On the work front, after their on-screen collaborations in 'Geetha Govindam' and 'Dear Comrade,' the newlyweds will star in 'Ranabaali,' a period action drama directed by Rahul Sankrityan. Vijay plays the titular role of a freedom fighter, with Rashmika portraying his pillar of strength, Jayamma.
