Ranveer Singh is living every Arsenal fan's dream as he watches his favourite team play live at the English Premier League in the United Kingdom.
The actor has not only been watching football games at the stadium, but also mingling with the likes of
Bella Hadid and even attending 'Frozen' and 'Life of Pi' musicals. In a recent chat with a daily, the actor not only spoke about his love for the beautiful game, but also reminisced his fan moment with French football legend and Arsenal player
Thierry Henry.
Recalling the time the French star left him in tears while in Mumbai, he said to Hindustan Times, "On the way to meet him, I was very excited. But the minute he came in front of me, I broke out in tears. I couldn't control my emotions as I saw him in the flesh. Tears were coming down. I just started crying. I have sat in front of the TV watching Thierry Henry. I have cheered him with my core and screaming when he scored. In that moment, all of that came back. All those years of admiration!"
He further went on to add that Thierry's reaction inspired him to change the way he interacts with his own fans. Recalling how the footballer was 'patient, kind, and warm', Ranveer said "That just changed me forever."
Admitting that seeing fans cry and others with tattoos dedicated to him, were overwhelming and 'a bit much', he understood the meaning of being a fan when he met his idol. "When that happened to me, I understood that. I had a new-found way of looking at it. It was a new respect that I found for that dynamic. In that moment, I learnt a lesson for life. I engage those fans very differently now. I am so much more respectful and sensitive to what they're feeling in that moment because it happened to me. Because how kind and warm he was to me, it meant the world to me. He made me feel so special that I want to pay that kindness and goodness forward."
Ranveer made headlines over the weekend when he met up with English football icon Ledley King at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. While there, the actor played the perfect fan as he shared photos from the locker room and even posed for a customary picture on the field. He was also presented with a customised No 1 jersey, that he proudly showed off on his social media handle.
