Ranbir Kapoor faces backlash for allegedly eating non-veg on Dining with the Kapoors after claiming he gave it up for Ramayana
Ranbir Kapoor, who was last seen in Animal (2023), has been busy for the past year shooting two major projects — Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana and Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Love & War, co-starring Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal. While fans wait to see him return to the big screen, the actor recently appeared with his family in Dining with the Kapoors. The documentary follows a celebratory lunch hosted by the Kapoor khandaan to mark Raj Kapoor’s 100th birth anniversary, giving viewers a rare glimpse of Ranbir in his most natural, relaxed setting.
However, the actor has now found himself at the centre of online trolling for allegedly enjoying dishes such as fish curry, junglee mutton and paya during the Kapoor family feast.
Although Dining with the Kapoors does not zoom in on Ranbir’s plate, several netizens are convinced he consumed non-veg dishes during the lunch, prompting accusations that he contradicted earlier dietary claims.
One user wrote, “I think PR teams of Bollywood actors should be fired, especially that of RK and Alia Bhatt. They don't do an ounce of research of past videos of their clients before posting such stupidity... What was the need to make claims of leaving non-veg and drinks for the role? Who asked?”
Another comment took a dig at his film title, saying, “Ranbir to PR: Tu jhooti main makkaar.”
Meanwhile, a more balanced voice said, “Unpopular opinion — I don’t have any issue with him eating non-veg. As a religious person, why is he lying though?”

Why the backlash?
The criticism stems from reports that surfaced last year, claiming that Ranbir had renounced alcohol and non-vegetarian food after being cast as Lord Rama in Ramayana. It was widely reported that the actor had adopted a strict sattvic diet and lifestyle while preparing for the role. These discussions intensified because Ranbir had previously described himself as a “big beef guy” in an old interview, a remark that continues to haunt him online.Although Dining with the Kapoors does not zoom in on Ranbir’s plate, several netizens are convinced he consumed non-veg dishes during the lunch, prompting accusations that he contradicted earlier dietary claims.
Netizens react sharply
Social media has since erupted with criticism, with many accusing Ranbir and his PR team of overhyping his alleged sattvic transformation. One user wrote, “I think PR teams of Bollywood actors should be fired, especially that of RK and Alia Bhatt. What’s next for Ranbir?
Ranbir will next be seen in Ramayana: Part 1, also starring Rocking Star Yash as Ravana and Sai Pallavi as Sita. The film is slated for a Diwali 2026 release.Get an chance to win ₹5000 Amazon Voucher by taking part in India's Biggest Habit Index! Take the survey here
