'Ramayana': Yash 'too handsome' to play Ravana in Nitesh Tiwari directorial? Sadhguru's statement goes viral
Spiritual leader Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev recently had a conversation with producer Namit Malhotra, who is backing Nitesh Tiwari's ambitious project, 'Ramayana'. During the candid chat, Sadhguru wondered why Yash was cast as Ravana in the film. He also shared the reason behind the question.
To that, the spiritual leader said, "I don’t know how Yash became Ravana. I know him very well. A villain always means he has a blunt nose and a huge stature. Yash is a handsome man."
Namit answered the doubts raised by Sadhguru and shared, "It is because we were almost looking at a superstar-level person to come in and play that role. He is very handsome and a very talented star in the country and incredibly loved."
The producer went on to say, "So, the whole idea was how do we try him? The idea was there had to be a lot of shades of Ravana in terms of why he was who he was."
The film will also feature Vivek Oberoi, Rakul Preet Singh, Lara Dutta, Kajal Aggarwal, Ravie Dubey, Kunal Kapoor, Arun Govil, Sheeba Chadha, and Indira Krishnan in pivotal roles.
The film will be released in two parts, with the first instalment coming out on Diwali 2026 and the second one slated for Diwali 2027.

I hope the movie does not whitewash Ravanas actions too much. Yes, Ravana had many shades to him. Even a rapist and a murder, or a terrorist have many shades to them. There is always a reason why they are the way they are. But we cannot justify their wrongs through that. It only helps us not to develop hate within. To separate the qualities from the person is important. I hope the film does justice to the message of Valmikis Ramayana. It is mostly people who have been wrong in the past and have transformed who want to be understood, who try to portray Ravana in a good light. Instead of seeking understanding from others, seeking to understand one's own self and to know that no one needs to understand me but myself. If there is complete understanding of myself and transform.Read allPost comment
