Veteran actress
Farah Naaz, known for her roles in films like 'Yateem' and 'Naseeb Apna Apna', has always kept her personal life closely guarded. However, she had once opened up about her 1996 marriage to actor
Vindu Dara Singh that was followed by the birth of their son, Fateh, before ending in divorce in 2002. In a surprising revelation, Farah shared that her decision to marry Vindu was heavily influenced by her younger sister, the acclaimed actress
Tabu, detailing how she had played a crucial role in their decision to tie the knot.
The first meeting
In an old interview, Farah Naaz shared that the story began when Tabu, who was home that day and feeling irritable, insisted that her older sister take her out to watch a movie. Farah initially resisted but eventually agreed to go see Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak.

However, their plan fell apart when they couldn’t get tickets at the theatre. As Farah was preparing to leave, the unexpected happened, Tabu suddenly spotted someone and excitedly greeted him, saying, “Hi Vindu, hi!”
Farah, unsure about the young man her sister was talking to, felt instantly nervous. Tabu quickly introduced him, saying, “Farah Baji, this is Vindu. He’s my classmate and a very big fan of yours.” Upon learning they couldn’t get tickets, Vindu immediately offered to help and rushed to arrange them. That moment marked Farah and Vindu’s first-ever meeting.
The direct proposal and relentless pursuit
The real pursuit began about a month after their chance encounter. Farah was on a film set when Vindu arrived along with his classmates, who were also Tabu’s batchmates from her dance class.
With almost no prior interaction, Vindu walked straight up to Farah and asked, “When are we getting married?” Farah was stunned by his boldness. She questioned him, saying, “I’ve met you once, who are you?”
Tabu as the unwitting intermediary
Unfazed by Farah’s reaction, Vindu chose a different route, he began to woo Tabu instead. Farah revealed that Vindu often told her sister, “I am in love with your sister,” using Tabu as a messenger.
Tabu, initially nervous and unsure, gradually softened toward him. She eventually told Farah that Vindu was a “good guy,” unknowingly strengthening his case.
Farah concluded the story by saying that Vindu’s persistence, along with his efforts through her sister, eventually wore her down. She finally “gave it up,” leading to their unexpected marriage.
