Rajpal Yadav, the comic actor loved by many, reached another rough point in his life. This time he had to surrender at Tihar Jail. The case involves a cheque bounce issue of around Rs 2.5 crore. Before he walked in, he broke down and said with tears, “Sir, kya karoon? Mere paas paise nahin hain. Aur koi upaay nahin dikhta… Sir, yahan hum sab akele hain. There are no friends. I have to deal with this crisis on my own.” Here let's take a look at the list of controversies surrounding the actor.

The biggest problem for Rajpal started in 2010. As reported by First Post, he took a Rs 5 crore loan from Murali Projects Pvt Ltd. He wanted to make his directorial film Ata Pata Laapata. The movie did not do well. After that, he could not repay the loan.
He gave cheques to return the money. Those cheques bounced. This led to cases under Section 138. He was convicted in 2018, along with his wife. He was given a six-month sentence. The sentence was upheld in 2019. The amount kept growing because interest kept adding up. Over time, the dues reached around ₹9 crore. By early 2026, the court said it cannot give him more time. It said he did not follow his own promises given in court. Because of this, he was told to surrender.

This is not the first time Rajpal has seen jail. In 2013, he got a 10-day sentence for giving a false affidavit. He served four days. In 2018, he got a three-month civil prison order for not repaying the loan. The 2026 surrender hit him hard because he kept saying he had no money left. He also said he had no one to turn to. The court noted he made some payments. But it also said he did not meet many conditions. This made the situation worse for him.

Apart from money and loan issues, Rajpal had a few small incidents too. In 2024, he posted a video asking people not to burst crackers during Diwali. He said it harms animals and some people said he was being fake because he had promoted meat brands in the past. After the backlash, he deleted the video and said sorry. There were also a few comments he made about random topics like the India’s Got Latent show. These did not turn into big problems but still pulled attention for a short time.

All these money cases have slowed down Rajpal’s work life. After his 2018 jail time, his movie offers reduced. Many filmmakers stepped back because of the ongoing court cases. Even today, he is still loved for his comic timing. People smile when they watch his old scenes. But his financial problems still keep coming back into the news. Rajpal Yadav was recently seen in the Varun Dhawan starrer 'Baby John' where he also performed an action sequence which received much love from the audiences.
