Rajkummar Rao has once again demonstrated his deep commitment to his craft while preparing for his upcoming biopic, ‘Nikam’. The actor recently shared details of his intense physical transformation to portray renowned public prosecutor
Ujjwal Nikam. His post quickly drew attention online, not only for the dedication he described but also for his firm response to a fan’s request regarding “propaganda films.”
Physical transformation for ‘Nikam’
For the role, Rajkummar significantly altered his appearance. He gained nearly 9–10 kilograms and allowed his hairline to thin to resemble the real-life personality. He avoided artificial enhancements and relied on natural methods.
Rajkummar Rao opens up on cosmetic enhancements rumours: 'I have done no plastic surgery but...'
In his caption, he wrote, “Just finished shooting for my next Biopic #NIKAM and yes, it has demanded me to change physically which I love doing.” He explained that he prefers hard work over cosmetic shortcuts. He added that he chose to gain weight and look age-appropriate rather than depend on glamour or prosthetics.
Rajkummar emphasised that transformation is central to how he builds his characters. He recalled earlier projects where he pushed his physical limits to achieve realism. From extreme weight loss to method behaviour off-camera, he believes immersion is essential.
He stated, “I’m not a believer in prosthetic as long as I can achieve the look through my hardwork.”
Summing up his philosophy, he wrote, “My being is through my Art.” The line resonated strongly with fans who admire his method-driven performances.
In the same post, he hinted at the shift ahead, writing that it is now time to shed the extra weight and “get ready to slip into Ganguly mode.”
Reply to fan about propaganda films
Among the praise, one fan urged him to avoid films perceived as politically motivated and commented, “Please do not do propaganda films sir (folded hand emoji).” Rajkummar responded directly but politely. His one-word reply made his stance clear: “NEVER.”
The exchange gained traction online, especially amid ongoing debates about cinema and political narratives. Many followers appreciated his straightforward answer and viewed it as reassurance about his artistic choices.
What’s next for the actor
With ‘Nikam’ wrapped, Rajkummar has already begun preparing for his next major transformation. He will portray former Indian cricket captain Sourav Ganguly in another biographical project. The biopic on Ujjwal Nikam is expected to release later in 2026.
