'O'Romeo': Shahid Kapoor and Triptii Dimri starrer's trailer launch cancelled amid security concerns following legal notice- Reports

The anticipation around Shahid Kapoor's 'O'Romeo' has been building ever since the film's teaser was released online. The teaser provided fans with a short glimpse of what they can expect from the film's exciting and dramatic environment. As much as the teaser created excitement among the fans, recent news regarding a legal dispute has impacted the film's promotional activities. An announcement made by the filmmaking team would indicate that they have cancelled the planned trailer launch event due to the legal dispute.

'O'Romeo' trailer launch cancelled

As per a report by Pinkvilla, the decision to scrap the trailer launch was taken due to security related concerns. The move follows allegations raised by the daughter of Hussain Ustara, who has reportedly sent a legal notice to the film’s team. Along with questioning the portrayal in the film, she has allegedly demanded Rs 2 crore from the makers.

For context, Sanober Shaikh, daughter of Hussain Ustara, recently issued a legal notice claiming that her father has been inaccurately depicted in ‘O’Romeo’. She reportedly believes the portrayal damages her family’s reputation and has sought financial compensation. The matter has added to the controversy surrounding the film’s release and promotions.

According to a Bollywood Hungama report, the notice was addressed to producer Sajid Nadiadwala of Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment and director Vishal Bhardwaj. It states that the film may unfavourably present Hussain Ustara, prompting the demand for Rs 2 crore. The report further claims that the complainant has requested the makers to halt or delay the film’s release until her objections are addressed.




As of now, there has been no official confirmation from the production team regarding the cancellation of the trailer launch.

Produced by Sajid Nadiadwala and directed by Vishal Bhardwaj, ‘O’Romeo’ marks the filmmaker’s reunion with Shahid Kapoor after several years. The duo has previously collaborated on acclaimed films such as ‘Kaminey’, ‘Haider’ and ‘Rangoon’. Their return has been one of the film’s biggest talking points.

The teaser hints at a dark and emotionally charged story rooted in unfulfilled love and its lasting consequences. Shahid Kapoor is seen in an intense avatar, sporting full body tattoos, engaging in violent confrontations and firing gunshots. The film also stars Triptii Dimri, Nana Patekar, Avinash Tiwary, Disha Patani, Aruna Irani, Vikrant Massey, Tamannaah Bhatia and Farida Jalal in striking roles. ‘O’Romeo’ is slated for a theatrical release on February 13, 2025, aligning with the Valentine’s Day weekend.
