Now Shyam Benegal comes to UP

UP is fast becoming a hot destination for filmmakers, and another big name to look UP-wards is ace director Shyam Benegal.
His next film starring Shraddha Kapoor, Om Puri and Naseeruddin Shah is likely to be shot in Varanasi this September. The male lead of the film has not yet been decided, but Prateik’s name is being floated around, as well as actor Rishi Bhutani’s, who appeared in “Bolo Ram”.
“Members of the production team were recently in the city for a recce of locations.They went around looking at the various ghats, including Dr Rajendra Prasad Ghat, Assi Ghat and a haveli in Ramnagar. The exact location for the shoot would be decided after the team visits the city again later in the month,” informs Ashok Seth, the local co-ordinator for the film in Varanasi.
Apart from a 15-day shooting stint in the city, the film will be shot in Agra and Delhi, he further adds.
Only recently, the “Dil, Dosti Etc” filmmaker, Manish Tewary was also in Varanasi location hunting for his next, “Issaq”, which stars Prateik opposite a fresh face.
