Newly-married couple Soha Ali Khan and Kunal Kemmu join #ShareTheLoad Movement

In response to a pan-India debate over the past couple of weeks, sparked off by leading celebrities like Shilpa Shetty, Neha Dhupia, Mandira Bedi asking ‘Is Laundry Only A Woman’s Job?’, the ‘Share The Load’ movement launched by Ariel India is receiving support across the country. Soha and Kunal join a host of celebrities pledging support for the movement, with Kunal taking Ariel India’s unique ‘Wash Bucket Challenge’, thereby committing to do the laundry at home and help in household chores.

With the survey revealing that 72% of Indian women want to only marry a man who will help with household chores, it is clear that equality within the household is a burning issue for women across the country.The survey also reveals that 76% of Indian women surveyed feel laundry is the easiest task a man can help with at home, which is why Ariel India’s Share The Load movement is aimed at getting men to pledge to do the laundry at home by taking the Wash Bucket Challenge.

Said Soha Ali Khan, “I am absolutely delighted to join the Share The Load movement along with Ariel India. Laundry is one of the easiest tasks a man can help with at home and 76% of Indian women agree. As a working woman myself, I truly believe that equality in household chores is a key to a happy marriage and it is no surprise that more than 2/3rds of Indian women feel that men who do the laundry will make great husbands. Kunal has always been someone who shares the workload at home and I am glad he’s here today taking the Wash Bucket Challenge and getting men across the country to join in!”
Bollywood actor Kunal Kemmu added, “Being equal partners is one of the most important aspects of one’s married life. I’m not surprised that today, 74% of Indian women want their boyfriends to commit to doing the laundry before marriage itself. Soha and I share responsibilities when it comes to household chores and we encourage men and women across the country to do the same. Even though laundry is considered a daunting task, 82% of Indian men feel a very good detergent can help them to do the laundry. Which is why, I’m taking the Wash Bucket Challenge here today, to get men across the country to pledge to Share The Load!
