Neetu Chandra bags National Award for her regional film

Actress Neetu Chandra is elated that her production 'Mithila Makhaan' won the National Award for the Best Maithili Film.

Stating that the movie, helmed by her brother Nitin Chandra, is an extension of their idea 'the more rooted you are, the more global you will be', the actress-producer, who hails from Bihar, says, 'We're trying to do things that are not only rooted, but also convey a message to the people of India.The movie is about people who migrate from here to other countries and realise the importance of returning to their roots.
Not to forget Bihar has a huge history of culture and it's also the land of our first President, Dr Rajendra Prasad, Ustad Bismillah Khan saab and Aryabhata.' Neetu further adds that the National honour has greater significance as 2016 also marks the 50th year of Maithili cinema.
