"The organisers just pushed forward a dance as soon as the guest film stars arrived," she said.

"It was not listed in our schedule, and I was shocked to see it. I do apologise on behalf of the Children''s Film Society of India (CFSI) for such a blunder," she said.

Talking about the shift in her image from a glamorous heroine to an ambassador for children''s films, Raveena said it is difficult to handle popularity along with public office.

"I have always wanted to work for children. I am an ambassador for Child Relief and You (CRY), and I guess now I am evolving as a human being," she said.

It was wrong to say that she did not have ''healthy films'' to her credit, she argued citing films like Daman, Satta and Shool which deal with social issues.

The CFSI will work towards striking a balance between realistic and commercial cinema by promoting entertainment with education. Secondly, the most important deterrent was low budget. "The CFSI''s budget for one children''s film is equal to the cost of just one song in a commercial film," she said.

The AP government has been very supportive and so was the Central government, she said. They have shown positive signs for promotion of children''s films and the CFSI is also putting pressure on the government to increase the budget, she added.

The CFSI will also work towards bringing the existing children''s films to the theatres, Raveena said. The CFSI has separate funds to encourage amateur directors with creative and entertaining scripts for children''s films.

The annual budget was roughly around Rs 40 lakh which restricted special effects and animation in Indian children''s films, CEO of CFSI, Satish Pendarkar said.

The knowledge level of today''s children about the country and its history is very poor, recently engaged Raveena told The Times Of India later.
