Mahesh Bhatt ropes in NSD graduate to direct theatre adaptation of 'Arth'

Mahesh Bhatt has zeroed in on the director for the theatre adaptation of his movie, 'Arth'. It is Priyanka Pathak, an NSD graduate with specialization in theatre direction.
“Even 20 years after the film was made, the situation the characters found themselves in the movie still hold true. It is still a daunting task for the woman to be a single parent, and the complexities of extramarital relationships are more or less the same as they were two decades ago.As for placing the script in today’s context, the nuances will be worked out only after discussing with the original creative team behind the film. There are several sequences in the movie that can be very creatively transformed into the stage acts,” says Priyanka.
Bhatt saab justifies his choice of director, saying, “I feel a female director would do justice to the essence of 'Arth'. I have worked with female directors before in my movies and want to explore the same now in theatre.”
