Luv Ranjan confirms Ajay Devgn and Sanjay Dutt starrer first-ever action film, tentatively titled ‘Ranger’: 'Shocking they never did action together'

Luv Ranjan and his production banner are stepping into 2026 with momentum. The year kicks off with ‘Vadh 2’, a sequel to the 2022 sleeper hit ‘Vadh’, once again featuring Sanjay Mishra and Neena Gupta. Alongside this, the filmmaker is also mounting a large-scale action-adventure headlined by Ajay Devgn, Sanjay Dutt and Tamannaah Bhatia, a project that has already sparked industry chatter.Reports have been doing the rounds that the action spectacle is titled ‘Ranger’. Addressing the buzz, Luv Ranjan clarified that the name is still a work in progress. “Ranger is a tentative title. As usual, we are trying to figure out the correct title,” he said with a laugh, adding that there is ample time before release to lock it in.According to Bollywood Hungama, putting speculation to rest, the producer confirmed that the film is slated to hit cinemas on December 4. “Yes, it’s true,” he said, sealing the release window for the much-anticipated action outing. What makes the film truly special is its casting. Despite sharing screen space multiple times over the years, Ajay Devgn and Sanjay Dutt have never teamed up for a full-fledged action film. “Ajay sir and Sanju sir have worked together so many times in these 25 years. Yet, they have never done an action film together. It is very shocking,” Luv Ranjan remarked. He added that watching them finally clash in an action-heavy narrative is “extremely exciting.”The two stars have appeared together in varied genres, including ‘Hum Kisise Kum Nahin’, ‘All The Best’, ‘Rascals’ and ‘Son Of Sardaar’, as well as the romantic drama ‘Mehbooba’. They even featured briefly in ‘Ready’, while Sanjay Dutt made a special appearance in Ajay Devgn-led ‘Raju Chacha’. Though both were part of war and action films like ‘LOC Kargil’, ‘Tango Charlie’ and ‘Bhuj: The Pride Of India’, they never shared scenes in those projects, making this upcoming film their first true action collaboration.Beyond this action-adventure, Luv Ranjan is also backing ‘Cocktail 2’, starring Shahid Kapoor, Kriti Sanon and Rashmika Mandanna. Keeping details under wraps, he shared, “I am producing it with Dino. It is shaping up great. Homi Adajania is a superb director,” hinting at another high-profile release on the horizon.
