Bollywood prepares for the next generation of star kids.Who says stars from filmi families don’t have it easy? Not just star sons and daughters, but also nieces and nephews cash in on the family name to make their big Bollywood debut. And while there are examples aplenty of filmi families at work among the current crop of actors – Imran and Aamir Khan, Ranbir and Rishi Kapoor, Sonam and Anil Kapoor to name a few – there are star kids waiting in the wings to be launched in B’wood.
Here’s how dynasty stardom is working in our film industry:
Mama miaSanjay Dutt is supposed to be helping his nephew Nilesh Sahay with his debut. The mama is giving all his support to the bhanja as he works on his debut film, Angel with
Ganesh Acharya. While Sanju is dead against his daughter making an entry into Bollywood, he’s more than willing to make appearances with Nilesh for the promotion of his film.
Sunny side upThe onscreen presence of the Deol parivar will soon get a boost. It is believed that Sunny Deol is preparing to launch his older son Karan Deol, or Rocky as he’s popularly known as soon.
Boney taleBoney Kapoor buried the hatchet with Yash Chopra to ensure that his son Arjun Kapoor (from his first wife, Mona) got a safe launch pad in Bollywood. Initially, Boney had planned a debut film for his son under his own banner, but he probably thought it wiser to bank on Yash Chopra. In a report, an official was quoted as saying, “Yes, Arjun Kapoor has been signed up for a film with Yash Raj Films. We will make an announcement of our forthcoming films in January, 2011.”
Red chillies ka tadkaDavid Dhawan has also chosen to entrust his son’s debut in Bollywood to another director,
Karan Johar in this case. The launch vehicle for Varun Dhawan, David’s son, will be an
SRK production directed by KJo. Interestingly, this will be the first time that Karan Johar’s production house will collaborate with SRK’s production house.
Bhatt of courseAlso making her debut in the same film with Varun Dhawan is Mahesh Bhatt and Soni Razdan’s younger daughter Alia. The younger one among two sisters, 17-year old Alia was nursing aspirations of becoming an actress for the past two years. According to reports, Bhatt’s production house, kept her under wraps and she was hardly seen at Bollywood functions.
Khan and willAlways Kabhi Kabhi, SRK’s home production is supposed to be the debut film for Zoa Morani, who is the daughter of producer Karim Morani. The film is being directed by Roshan Abbas. Zoa worked as an assistant director on Om Shanti Om, starring SRK.
