Kunal Kamra turns down Bigg Boss offer: “I would much rather…”
Comedian Kunal Kamra has revealed that he was recently approached to be a contestant on the upcoming season of the popular reality show Bigg Boss, an offer he sharply declined.
In an Instagram Story posted on Tuesday, Kunal Kamra shared a screenshot of a WhatsApp message allegedly sent by a casting coordinator for the show.
“Your name came up as someone they might find interesting”
According to the screenshot, the message read, “I am handling the casting for this season of Bigg boss and your name came up as someone they might find interesting.”
The message further read, “I know it might not have been on your radar, but honestly, it's such a mad platform to show your real vibe and win over a massive audience. What do you think? Should we talk about it?”
Kunal Kamra’s reply, “I would much rather…”
Kunal Kamra's reply to the text was: “I would much rather check into a mental hospital...”
The comic did not clarify whether the offer was for Bigg Boss Season 19 or the fourth season of its OTT spin-off. However, this isn’t the first time Kamra’s name has been linked with the show — in 2023, there were reports that he was being considered for Bigg Boss OTT 2.
FIRs for remarks made against Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister
The revelation comes at a time when Kamra is entangled in multiple legal battles. He is currently facing FIRs for remarks made against Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde in his recent YouTube stand-up special Naya Bharat. The comic has moved the Bombay High Court seeking to quash one such FIR, while the Madras High Court has extended his interim anticipatory bail until April 17.
Earlier this week, Kamra also addressed BookMyShow through an open letter, urging the ticketing platform to either continue listing his shows or provide him with the audience data he’s accumulated over the years.
According to PTI, Kunal Kamra has further claimed he has received death threats following the show's release and has requested that any police questioning take place via video conference for his safety.
