Kanika Kapoor tests positive for Covid-19 to Ranbir Kapoor-Alia Bhatt’s alleged break-up: Here are the newsmakers of the week

Coronavirus has been doing some serious damage to Bollywood and this week, Kanika Kapoor became the first celebrity to have tested positive for the same. Apart from that, makers of ‘83 announced that the film has been postponed indefinitely due to the pandemic while several B-town celebs returned to India amidst the health scare. On the other hand Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt hit headlines for their alleged break-up. Here’s taking a look at all the top news of the week.

Kanika Kapoor was the first celebrity to test positive for the novel Coronavirus. The popular singer had recently returned from London and soon after the diagnosis she was taken to a hospital. In an interview with ETimes, Kanika had agreed that she attended several social gatherings but until then she was not aware that she may be infected. "I came to Lucknow and I met people. In fact, I've told the health department I'll give them a list of people I've been in contact with.” According to PTI, an FIR was lodged against the singer at the Sarojini Nagar police station under IPC Sections 269 (negligent act likely to spread infection of disease dangerous to life), 270 (malignant act likely to spread infection of disease dangerous to life), 188 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant).

After Akshay Kumar’s cop act ‘Sooryavanshi’ was postponed, this week yet another film decided to delay its release. Makers of Ranveer Singh starrer sports drama '83 decided to shift the release date of the film. “In the wake of the risks posed by the outbreak of COVID-19 and the growing health concerns, the release of 83 has been put on hold. We will take a decision regarding the next course of action once the conditions return to normal,” read an official statement from the team. Kabir Khan directed '83 was to hit the screens on April 10.

Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt were rumoured to tie the knot in December this year. However this week the couple hit headlines as reports suggested Ranbir-Alia have ended their romance. A source close to the couple had rubbished the claims and informed ETimes, “These reports are all baseless and untrue. You all can be assured that Ranbir and Alia are very much in love and together.”

Kangana Ranaut and Hrithik Roshan have been through a much publicized spat few years ago. And recently Kangana’s sister Rangoli posted a throwback picture from happier times. Referring to Hrithik as ‘Pappu ji’, Rangoli wrote, “Yeh dekho Pappu ji, sara din mujhe impress karne mein laga rehta tha taki meri bahen ki good books mein aa jaye. Aur aaj kehta hai hum aapke hain kaun.”

Amidst Coronavirus outbreak all over the world, several Bollywood celebrities returned to India. Sonam Kapoor and Anand Ahuja flew back from London this week and went into self-quarantine mode. Kajol was also snapped at the airport with daughter Nysa, who studies at a college in Singapore. Suchitra Krishnamoorthi’s daughter Kaveri returned home from Boston where she was learning music. While Irrfan Khan’s son Babil and Boney Kapoor’s daughter Khushi also returned home since their respective universities were shut down due to the health scare. Juhi Chawla also arrived in India with her kids.
