Kangana Ranaut skips naming her favourite star kid among Ananya Panday, Janhvi Kapoor, Sara Ali Khan: 'I don’t want the standard of art in our film industry to fall so low that it ends'
Kangana Ranaut recently shared her views on today’s actresses and the state of the Indian film industry. When asked about her favorite actresses from this generation, like Ananya Panday, Janhvi Kapoor, or Sara Ali Khan, Kangana chose not to name anyone specifically.
Instead, she expressed admiration for actors from outside the usual circles, such as Wamiqa Gabbi and Mrunal Thakur, recognizing that every actor faces their own set of challenges. She stressed that improving the industry’s standards is a collective responsibility.
Speaking to News 18, Kangana voiced concern over the declining standards of art in Bollywood, particularly in acting and filmmaking. "I don’t want the standard of art in our film industry to fall so low that it ends," she said.
She praised legendary figures like Irrfan Khan, Manoj Bajpayee, Meena Kumari, Waheeda Rehman, and Sridevi for their contributions and high standards. According to Kangana, there needs to be a concerted effort to elevate creativity and storytelling in Bollywood.
Kangana also criticized some actors for promoting products like Gutkha and contributing to materialism. She expressed frustration with those who support controversial agendas without taking responsibility for their impact on society.
She also questioned Bollywood’s role in promoting the sexualization of young children and expressed concern about the influence of social media on younger generations.
Meanwhile, Kangana said that she was forced to sell off her property in Mumbai after the release of directorial venture Emergency was postponed due to delay in getting a censor certificate. There were reports earlier this month that the actor-filmmaker sold her bungalow at Pali Hill in Mumbai's Bandra for Rs 32 crore. She had bought the property for Rs 20.7 crore in 2017.
She said, "I had staked my personal property on this film, which was supposed to come in theatres. Now it is not releasing, so the property is there, to be sold off in difficult times." Emergency, a political drama also written and co-produced by Kangana, was supposed to release on September 6 but the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) didn't give a go ahead.
