Kangana Ranaut: I’m a huge fan of Jyotika

Kangana Ranaut is all set to go back to South cinema with Chandramukhi 2 with Raghava Lawrence. She was earlier part of Thalaivi where she played Jayalalithaa. In a recent interview the actress revealed that Chandramukhi 2 is the origin story of her character of how and why she turned into a ghost.
The actress in an interview with The Hindu mentioned that she is the original Chandramukhi.It’s an origin story which delves into who she is, and why she turned into a ghost. She also addressed the issues of comparisons with Jyothika who played Chandramukhi in the first installment. She said that she is a huge fan of hers and it is an honour for her to be part of the same franchise. She also added that in an interview when Jyothika was asked about her favourite actress, she took her name and this was long before she had signed this film. She’s such a generous person and an inspiration to her, Kangana said.
Kangana also mentioned that growing up everyone has that one inspirational character that they like to portray, for her it was Chandramukhi.
Kangana also shared that after working with Tamil industry she brought about a change in her style when she turned director again with Emergency. She mentioned that during Emergency she would ask her actors to stay back after their shots are done as it’s nice to have them all indulge in conversations, this was something she saw on her sets in South where people would sit and chat rather than returning to their vanity vans or to their phones.
Kangana also believes that she has not done a commercial film and has stuck to art films or women-centric films on our fights and struggles. But there comes a point in time where you want to try something new, and it’s wonderful to do a film with songs and dance sequences. The film (Chandramukhi 2)'s climax is something you should look forward to.
