The makers of the upcoming
Kangana Ranaut and
Rajkummar Rao starrer ‘Mental Hai Kya’, announced on Saturday that they have decided to change the title of their film, to ‘Judgementall Hai Kya’ after the censor board reportedly raised objections.
The Prakash Kovelamudi-directed thriller has been at the receiving end for quite some time with many people calling the title “insensitive” to mentally-challenged persons.
In a statement, a spokesperson for the banner said, "Given the sensitivity attached to the issue of mental health and our intention of not offending or hurting anyone's sentiments, the makers have decided to change the title of the film, 'Mental Hai Kya' to 'Judgementall Hai Kya'. Both Kangana and Rajkummar have outdone themselves in this thriller and we can't wait for audiences to witness it on the big screen."
Now, according to the latest reports, the team was throwing about four different names for a title. Kangana revealed that while brainstorming for the apt title, they thought of naming the film after her character ‘Bobby Grewal Batliwala’. However, they went at it again and thought of ‘Bobby Mental Hai Kya’ and then landed with ‘Sentimental Hai Kya’ which was also dropped as it didn’t fit the story and producer
Ekta Kapoor didn’t like the ring to it. She said that they thought of calling the film ‘Bobby’, but as the title was registered with RK studios, they finally settled on ‘Judgementall Hai Kya’ as it was aimed at the prejudices people carry against those who behave differently.
The actress claimed that the Central Board officials also liked the title and were happy with the film and gave it a U/A certificate without any cuts.
