Kajol speaks about the Pyramids in Egypt, walking the beaches in Sydney and her visit to Budapest that remains close to her heart.I truly love to travel, the very thought is so exciting. And honestly, I enjoy travelling alone, all by myself. I know of many people who go trotting often so they get bored of it. But since I get to do it alone only rarely, I enjoy it thoroughly.
In fact, during the long hours between flight connects, I keep a book handy and like to read. I also mingle around selectively with people and pass my time.
I look forward to destinations which boast of great heritage and offer much to explore. My early memories are of my visit to Australia when my sister Tanishaa was studying there. I remember that we had rented out a nice cosy apartment instead of staying at a hotel. We indulged in the local cuisine there by eating out at the roadside eateries. We also did a lot of cooking by ourselves in the apartment and that turned out to be great fun. We went sightseeing to Sydney and took long walks on the beaches.
Later on, I got an opportunity to visit Egypt. And while there are so many things out there to see, I have the fondest memories of the Pyramids. I had read so much about it that I had tears in my eyes when I first sighted it and was instantly moved by its huge size and presence. Egypt is so beautiful that I would recommend everyone to visit it at least once in their lifetime. The scapes are a sight to behold.
During my visit to Scotland, I marvelled at the vast stretches of greens, they just took my breath away. I think Scotland has the greenery which is unmatched with anything else in any other country. The heritage and culture of that country, the beautifully carved castles and its legends, it’s all extremely impressive.
In Budapest, the architectural beauty of the museums, churches and structures was inspiring. I got to see the historic red dome of the Parliament buildings which had stone lace carvings, and interiors with gold fillings on it. On the whole, I like to visit Europe, for it offers great architecture and culture to learn about. And honestly, I do not quite like America because I find it too commercial. Tall structures which are black and grey with mirrored exteriors do not fascinate me.
What angers me is that some people abroad still expect elephants roaming freely on the Indian streets and to top it all snake charmers around too...
I must make a mention about my most recent visit to Germany for a friend’s wedding to a small, lesser known village. I think even the Germans didn’t know about its existence till we got there. At a get-together, I made this loud funny blunder by yelling — ‘Hail Hitler’ and people around immediately corrected me saying Hitler was Austrian. Well well!
