'Kaabil 2' is far more deadlier,' says Sanjay Gupta; Awaits Hrithik Roshan and Rakesh Roshan’s approval

Director Sanjay Gupta has officially confirmed that 'Kaabil 2' is ready from his end. He revealed in a recent conversation that he has completed the script and is waiting only for approval from Hrithik Roshan and Rakesh Roshan before taking the sequel on floors. According to the filmmaker, the new chapter will be bigger, sharper, and far more intense than the original 2017 hit. Sanjay Gupta explained to Variety India his position clearly and said, “I just want to tell you that as a director and a writer, I’m fully ready. The minute I get a green signal from Roshans, we’re good to go. I have the script for ‘Kaabil 2’ and when they feel it is the right time, we’ll make it.”Sanjay Gupta also highlighted that a sequel should always rise above what came before. He reinforced his aim and added, “And like I even tweeted that this time it is far more deadlier than the first part, which is what should be in any case. When you make a sequel to a film, it has to be better than the first. Otherwise, why make it?” Sanjay Gupta’s update arrives almost a year after Hrithik Roshan himself acknowledged that 'Kaabil' was a film that deserved to continue. In January 2025, during the promotions of 'The Roshans', Hrithik appeared in a light-hearted promotional video where he was asked which of his films should get a second part. Without hesitation, he replied, “I’d go with 'Kaabil'.”When Kaabil released in 2017, it told the stark and emotional story of Rohan, played by Hrithik Roshan who is a visually impaired man who falls in love with Supriya, portrayed by Yami Gautam. Their marriage begins with hope, but their lives collapse when Supriya is assaulted by men shielded by political power. Her death by suicide triggers Rohan’s journey.While discussions about 'Kaabil 2' grow stronger Hrithik Roshan also made headlines for praising Shahid Kapoor’s performance in his recent release. The actor shared his reaction on X, writing, “The quirkiness of #ORomeo eventually wins you over. I had fun. @shahidkapoor you do this genre BEST. Too good you are. Go watch it in the theatres guys. Also, that running in circles action was brilliant (sic).” Hrithik repeated his admiration and added, “@shahidkapoor you do this genre BEST. Too good you are (sic).”Shahid responded with heartfelt gratitude and nostalgia. He wrote, “Brother saw you debut like a boss when I was still in college and you hit me like lightning.
