Jigariyaa celebrates 80’s style romance

Director Raj Purohit always nurtured hopes of directing a love story. And with Jigariyaa, which stars Harshvardhan Deo and Cherry Mardia in lead roles, he has realised his dream.
Raj, who began his career as a production assistant on 1942: A Love Story, was deeply influenced by the love saga. “During that film itself, I decided that I will make a love story someday,” he says.

The film, presented by Wave Cinemas Ponty Chadha and produced by Raju Chadha and Soundarya Production, is based on a true story. Producer Vinod Bachchan approached Raj with the idea, who promptly started writing the film. Adds the director, “It’s a romance drama set in 1988-89 and has the charm and innocence of old-school romance, which fascinated me.”
Jigariyaa releases October 10.
