During the conversation with Barkha Dutt for Mojo Story, Jaya Bachchan talked about why she fell in love with Amitabh Bachchan. She revealed that the Hindi cinema superstar has a different personality than hers, and hence, she might have fallen in love with him. She went on to label the institution of marriage as "outdated."
When the host asked Jaya Bachchan about Amitabh Bachchan's views on the same, the actress answered that she never asked him about it. She said, "I have never asked him his views on marriage. Maybe he will call it the biggest mistake of his life—but I don’t want to hear that!"
