Javed Akhtar calls out his AI-generated fake video; warns to take legal action: ‘Considering to report this to the cyber police’
In the day and age of AI, the line between authenticity and computer-generated content is growing thinner. Though no one is immune to the web of fabricated AI content, it has often been seen that celebrities become soft targets. Over the years, we have seen many stars falling prey to the trap, and recently, famous lyricist Javed Akhtar became one of the latest victims. An AI-generated video of him is doing rounds on social media, and the ‘Sholay’ fame writer has expressed his disappointment and rage over the matter. He even warned of taking legal action against people involved in the generation and circulation of the video.
“A fake video is in circulation showing my fake computer-generated picture with a topi on my head, claiming that ultimately I have turned to God. It is rubbish. I am seriously considering to report this to the cyber police and ultimately dragged the person responsible for this fake news and those few who forward it to the court for damaging my reputation and credibility," wrote Javed Akhtar on X (formerly called Twitter)
A netizen commented, “Deepfakes like this are pure poison, thanks for calling it out and fighting back. Misinformation is the real evil here. Take legal action, you've got support ✊,” while another wrote, “Absolutely. These malicious AI fakes are disgraceful attempts to mislead people and defame your lifelong commitment to reason and atheism. Legal action is the right step—we stand with you. ”
“Incidentally, I differ with you on many points in terms of ideology. But here, I completely agree with you. This cannot be tolerated...u have to take action,” read another comment.
