On Thursday morning, Deepika Padukone’s fans were taken by surprise when Vyjayanthi Movies, the producers of ‘Kalki 2898AD’, announced on social media that she will no longer be part of the film’s sequel. Their tweet read, "This is to officially announce that @deepikapadukone will not be a part of the upcoming sequel of #Kalki2898AD. After careful consideration, We have decided to part ways."

“Despite the long journey of making the first film, we were unable to find a partnership. And a film like @Kalki2898AD deserves that commitment and much more. We wish her the best with her future works,” they added.



Scheduling conflict revealed

Now, according to Hindustan Times, the sequel's shoot was planned for the end of this year. However, Deepika's dates were given to her film with filmmaker Atlee instead. Both films were supposed to be filming around the same time, and that has led to an issue between the producers and Deepika's team.

‘Kalki 2898 AD’ is a sci-fi movie set in the year 2898 in a dystopian city called Kashi, ruled by a powerful god-king named Yaskin. The story follows Ashwatthama, cursed with immortality, who must protect Sumathi, a woman pregnant with Kalki, the final avatar of Lord Vishnu. The film shows their fight against Yaskin’s forces who want to capture Sumathi because they need her unborn child’s serum for power. The movie also stars Amitabh Bachchan and Prabhas in the lead roles.
