Imran Khan's comeback film ‘Adhure Hum Adhure Tum’ with Bhumi Pednekar postponed to release in late 2026 - Reports
Imran Khan’s long-awaited return as a lead actor has hit a pause. His upcoming film ‘Adhure Hum Adhure Tum,’ planned as his first full-fledged role in nearly 10 years, has been postponed. The Netflix-backed project was earlier expected to arrive in early 2026, but its release timeline is now uncertain. The film also stars Bhumi Satish Pednekar and is positioned as a spiritual successor to ‘Break Ke Baad,’ making the delay a disappointment for fans eager to see Khan back on screen.
As reported by HT City, the film was originally lined up for an early 2026 streaming release. However, internal changes at the platform have pushed the schedule back. “The film, directed by Danish Aslam, was originally slated to release on a streaming platform in early 2026. However, the individual in charge of the project at the platform has been absent for a month, resulting in the cancellation of the entire slate, according to a film source.
In his News18 interview, Khan pointed the decision back to Netflix, saying the streamer will set the release date. “We took it to Netflix. It’s currently in late post-production. We’re locking on the edit, doing the color grading, sound mixing and all of those exciting technical things,” he said. “It should be out sometime this year when Netflix decides, as per their algorithm.”
He also highlighted his long association with Aslam. “We shot it last year, and it’s directed by Danish, who is a friend of mine. We made ‘Break Ke Baad’ together and have remained close since then,” Khan said. “I started feeling that I wanted to make a film and explore certain themes.” For now, the film remains in post-production, with its final release date dependent on Netflix’s call.
Imran Khan is related to filmmaker Mansoor Khan and actor Aamir Khan. He first appeared on screen as a child in ‘Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak’ and ‘Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar.’ He later returned as a leading man in 2008 with ‘Jaane Tu... Ya Jaane Na’ and won the Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut. After successes like ‘Delhi Belly,’ he took a long break from films.
