I was petrified of Tanuja Chandra: Raima Sen

When working with ace directors, actors usually unlearn all that they know and let directors completely mould them and extract the best from them.
Raima Sen, having worked with directors like Aparna Sen, Rituparna Ghosh, Pradeep Sarkar and now Tanuja Chandra, agrees.“Shooting with Tanuja in Raakh was like appearing for an exam! She is a hard taskmaster. I was petrified. Even while dubbing, for which we had diction tutors, she demanded that we show every little nuance of the different dialects that we (co-actors Vir Das and Rajeev Khandelwal) were using,” says the actress.
When Raima finally saw the film, she realised that all the firing she got from Tanuja was worth it. “I saw that she had got the best out of me,” she says. An intense love story the film, has Vir Das playing Raima’s husband and Rajeev Khandelwal her lover. The film has supernatural elements to it. “It was my first time in Ujjain, a city that inherently has a spiritual atmosphere, and Tanuja has used that to set the stage for the movie,” Raima signs off.
