In recent years, Bollywood has been rocked by a chilling wave of threats targeting its biggest stars, from Salman Khan to Shah Rukh Khan and beyond. These incidents, ranging from death threats and extortion demands to physical assaults, have exposed the darker side of fame, often linked to organized crime like the Lawrence Bishnoi gang or anonymous provocateurs exploiting sensitive issues. Here’s a list of Bollywood celebrities who have received threats in recent times.

Salman has faced multiple death threats, primarily linked to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, stemming from his 1998 Blackbuck poaching case, which is considered offensive by the Bishnoi community. In April 2024, two gunmen fired shots outside his Bandra residence, Galaxy Apartments. Subsequent threats included extortion demands, with one in October 2024 demanding Rs 5 crore via a WhatsApp message to Mumbai Traffic Police and another in November 2024 demanding Rs 2 crore. Now, the actor has received a fresh death threat, as per the Indian Express website, on the WhatsApp number of the Mumbai police’s traffic department in Worli. Reportedly, an unidentified person sent the message around 6:30 am on Sunday (April 13), threatening to enter Salman’s residence and kill him.

In November 2024, SRK received a death threat via a phone call to Bandra Police Station, demanding Rs 50 lakh in extortion. The call was traced to Raipur, Chhattisgarh, linked to a lawyer named Mohammad Faizan Khan, who claimed his phone was stolen. Earlier threats, particularly in 2023, post-Pathaan and Jawan, led to heightened security concerns.

In January 2025, the comedian received death threats via email from an individual named “Vishnu,” claiming surveillance and demanding unspecified actions within eight hours. According to the Indiaforums website, Kapil filed a complaint, leading to a police investigation and an FIR against an unidentified suspect. A similar email death threat from the ‘Vishnu’ identity was reportedly shared with Rajpal Yadav and Remo’ D’Souza.

In November 2024, Vikrant Massey received threats ahead of the release ofThe Sabarmati Report, a film based on the 2002 Godhra Riots. According to The Hindu, the threats were linked to the sensitive subject matter of the film, with anonymous messages warning him about potential consequences.​

According to India TV, comedian and singer Sughandha Mishra, in January 2025, received a “Vishnu” email matching others, threatening harm and claiming surveillance. Reportedly, Sughandha filed a complaint with the Amboli Police; the FIR was registered, and the IP was traced to Pakistan.
