From Bell Bottom and 83 to Shershaah and Attack: All recent Bollywood release date announcements

After a lull in 2020, Hindi films are coming back to the theatres. The last few days have seen a flurry of release date announcements for some of the most-anticipated Hindi films. A look at those films and when they hit the theatres:

Roohi (March 11)

The Janhvi Kapoor, Rajkummar Rao and Varun Sharma-starrer horror comedy will kick off the series of big-ticket theatrical releases for this year next month

Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar (March 19)

Dibakar Banerjee’s black comedy Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar, which reunited Arjun Kapoor and Parineeti Chopra, finally hits the screen in March after a year-long delay

Bell Bottom (May 28)

The multi-starrer period film has Akshay Kumar in the lead and is notable for having wrapped up its entire shooting in 40 days in Europe post-lockdown and is one of Akshay’s several releases this year

83 (June 4)

After having spent almost four years in production, the Ranveer Singh-starrer tale of Indian cricket team’s 1983 World Cup win is finally ready to release this summer

Jhund (June 18)

Based on the life of football coach Vijay Barse, Jhund is Sairat-fame Nagraj Manjule’s Hindi debut and stars Amitabh Bachchan as Barse

Shershaah (July 2)

Vishnuvardhan’s Shershaah is a war film based on the life and exploits of Param Vir Chakra Captain Vikram Batra, who laid down his life in the Kargil War. It stars Sidharth Malhotra in the lead role and hits the screens in July

Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui (July 9)

he Ayushmann Khurrana and Vaani Kapoor-starrer completed its entire shooting schedule in Chandigarh post the lockdown and will release in July

Atrangi Re (August 6)

Aanand L Rai reunites with Dhanush in this romantic musical drama, which also stars Sara Ali Khan and Akshay Kumar. The film’s shoot was halted by the pandemic and release date pushed back from Valentine’s Day to August 2021

Attack (August 13)

Based on true events, this hostage rescue drama stars John Abraham, Rakul Preet Singh and Jacqueline Fernandez. Like several of John’s previous films, this will release on the Independence Day weekend

Prithviraj (November 5)

The biopic of Delhi’s king Prithviraj Chauhan, the film stars Akshay Kumar and sees Miss World 2018 Manushi Chhillar making her debut. Its release has been postponed from Diwali 2020 to Diwali 2021 due to delays caused by the pandemic

Luv Ranjan's next (March 18, 2022)

It may not even have a title yet but Luv Ranjan’s next – starring Ranbir Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor – has a release date. The film will hit the screens on Holi next year- March 18, 2022. The crew has been shooting in Delhi-NCR for over a month

Bhediya (April 14, 2022)

This horror comedy is being directed by Amar Kaushik of Stree fame and will star Varun Dhawan and Kriti Sanon. The film went on floors last month and will release next year
