The song 'Chunari Chunari Let's Go' from
Varun Dhawan,
Mrunal Thakur, and
Pooja Hegde's upcoming film 'Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai' has officially dropped online. The track is a recreated version of the classic Bollywood song 'Chunari Chunari' from Salman Khan's 'Biwi No. 1'. As soon as the new music video was posted online, it sparked a massive backlash with fans declaring that the remake did not live up to the original.
Netizens are disappointed with Varun Dhawan's 'Chunari Chunari' remix
As soon as the recreated version of 'Chunari Chunari' surfaced online, fans flooded the comments with sharp criticism. "It must've been insanely hard to mess this up," wrote one user. Another commented, "Thanks for destroying the cult song. Not even 1% of the original." A third asked bluntly, "Why do they have to butcher the OG songs always?"
The criticism didn't stop there. "This is bad on unfathomable levels," read one comment, with another user pointing out, "On YouTube, 90% of the comments are saying that the Salman & Sushmita version of the Chunari Chunari song is still unbeatable today."
'Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai' controversy
The backlash comes amid a reported feud between producer Ramesh Taurani, David Dhawan, and veteran producer Vashu Bhagnani over the recreated track. Varun has previously featured in remakes of other Salman Khan hits, including 'Chalti Hai Kya 9 Se 12' and 'Oonchi Hai Building'.
