Directed by FD''s Eastern Region Production Centre director K G Das, the 1998 production in Bengali has already been screened at the Dhaka International Film Festival in 2000 as part of the Indian package of four films.
"While making the film I had never imagined that it would be selected by the Films Division for such a historic release," Das said.
Made on a budget of Rs 12 lakh, the 35 mm feature film captures the agony of a scheduled caste youth, who despite being the first graduate from his village falls prey to red-tapism and finally ends up in jail in pursuit of a job.
"The film is shot completely on location in a village in Barasat sub-division of North 24 Parganas district with about 40 people in the cast," Das said.
