Director Rajnish Thakur’s next is based in Delhi and will also show BITS Pilani’s cultural fest Having debuted as a director with his film “Loot”, Hansraj College alumnus,
Rajnish Raj Thakur plans to return to Delhi for his next project. “I will be shooting my next film in Delhi. It will be a love story based in North campus. I plan to incorporate the BITS Pilani cultural fest in the film,” says the director, adding, “When I was studying in Delhi, I went to the BITS Pilani cultural festival and saw a completely different kind of life there.
I want to capture the essence of that festival,” says Rajnish.
The director is of the opinion that the culture in North campus hasn’t been explored by Bollywood and he plans to do just that. “North campus is a cultural hub and I feel Bollywood films haven’t fully exploited every area of it. I don’t know why no one has captured the ethos, the essence and the purity of North campus. I haven’t seen such a lifestyle anywhere. You study a lot, you party a lot and there are so many cultural activities that go on here and that is what I want to present in the film. I am also thinking of incorporating the DU special bus,” says Rajnish.
Thakur isn’t looking for a producer for the film so that there isn’t much interference in his work. “I want to produce the film myself. I believe if you have the creative skills to do something, then you should also have the money to finance yourself. Even “Mere Dost Picture Abhi Baki Hai” (his latest film) is based on the same concept. Suniel (Shetty) is an aspiring director who has a concept in mind, but when he goes to make his film, he has to deal with producers who change it to such an extent that it’s no longer his film,” says Thakur.
