Excerpts from the interview:
You have been away for a long time now. How does it feel to be back?
I am very excited to be back and I have been very patient and looks like it has finally started to pay now.
How did this film happen?
Surinder Singh is a director from Punjab. He got my number from Youtube. He got in touch with me and met me. He narrated the concept of the film to me. It is based on Guru Nanak ji. The story is very close to my heart. It is a very religious film with a simple theme. There are many incidents in the film that I can relate to my personal life. I am going to be doing his next production also which is titled, ‘Beautiful Wife’. This movie is more on the commercial side.

Why do you think this is the right project to make your comeback?
Some stories touch your heart. Everybody today is doing commercial films. I am an actress and I am open to any kind of offer. This was my first offer and I think it has come above from heaven itself. I feel this film will give me the confidence to move ahead.
Amidst all your ups and downs, Salman Khan is one actor who has been with you.
He has been with me both in spirit and otherwise. I want to meet him and I will. I have said this many times, I worship Salman Khan. I would love to work with him again.
Tell us something about your low phase.
I don’t want to think about my past. Whatever has happened has happened and it has passed now. I have forgotten everything. I just want to live in this moment.
Have you been following up with what has been happening in Bollywood?
I have been keeping up to some extent, yes. The industry has expanded leaps and bounds now. It has new faces, new actors coming up.
What kind of films are you looking forward to being a part of?
I am open to every offer. But yes, I would love to do something that I stand for. In my earlier film, I have played clean characters. I cannot expose much on the screen which is common now. I would love to do roles that have values. I want to believe in what I am doing. I cannot cheat with my audience. I am looking for roles that have some weight.
