Exclusive: Shanthi Priya goes BALD! Says she is not here to fit into a mould
Actress Shanthi Priya recently made a bold move by shaving off her hair. The actress has let go of her tresses to embrace a new look – bald and beautiful. In a chat with us, Shanthi speaks about her transformation and the new version of herself.
‘When the last strand of hair fell, I felt a sense of peace’
She reveals, “I made this decision a few weeks ago. It wasn’t impulsive – it was on my mind for some time. There was an emotional buildup, almost like peeling away old layers to uncover something real and unfiltered. When the last strand of hair fell, I felt an unexpected sense of peace. It was like stepping into a fresh version of myself. This is me, raw and genuine. I am not defined by my hair or my appearance; I am defined by my strength, my spirit and my journey.”
‘This is not a rebellious move’
The Saugandh (1991) actress says that she believes in defying expectations. She says, “Beauty has never been about conforming to a certain mould. It’s about embracing change and owning your choices. By going bald, I am not rebelling, I am celebrating my self-liberation. In an industry where beauty standards are often set in stone, I’m rewriting the narrative. I hope to inspire others to embrace their true selves.”
‘I’m not here to fit into a mould’
Ask the actress, who was recently seen in the web show Dharavi Bank, whether she feared the implications of her bold move, and she says, “Of course, I had my doubts. In this industry, there’s often an expectation for heroines to look glamorous, flawless, with long, flowing hair. So yes, I did wonder, ‘Will this affect the roles I get? Will people see me differently?’ But then I asked myself, ‘Am I going to let fear dictate my choices?’ Going bald was my way of saying that I’m not here to fit into a mould; I’m here to break it on my own terms.”
