Ali Fazal, who received critical acclaim for his performance in Fukrey, will be seen in a double role in his next film. Titled Baat Bann Gayi, the comedy is directed by Shuja Ali and also stars Gulshan Grover and Razzak Khan. The young actor, who graduated from theatre to films, says that the appreciation for Fukrey was unexpected. “We knew we had made an honest film and it would connect.
But I didn’t expect the kind of feedback I got because I had the most serious role. I am totally unlike the character I played,” he explains.
In his next, Ali will play a novelist and a crazy Bihari gangster. He explains, “It’s a take on William Shakespeare’s
Comedy Of Errors. Both the characters are diametrically opposite. I also underwent some training in Bhojpuri to get the pronunciation right.”
Besides that, he is working in a Ramesh Sippy production. “In that film, I play the lead role. Around 30% of the film is yet to be completed. It is a serious film and Anupam Kher is playing the villain,” Ali says.
He is also working in a Hollywood venture that has a few other Indian actors. “I am going to San Francisco to shoot for its first schedule. Rajat Kapoor and Omi Vaidya will also be seen in the film,” says the actor, adding that the film is based on the economic crisis that has hit the US.
