Dolly Ahluwalia says Amitabh Bachchan delivered his 'finest' performance in unreleased film ‘Shoebite’

Actor and costume designer Dolly Ahluwalia has shared her memorable experience of working with the legendary Amitabh Bachchan on the unreleased film 'Shoebite', directed by Shoojit Sircar. Ahluwalia, who has worked with numerous stars in the industry, praised Bachchan for his unparalleled dedication and punctuality, qualities that have earned him immense respect among his peers.

During an interview on 'The Punjabi Link' YouTube channel, Ahluwalia recounted the challenging shooting conditions in Manali, where temperatures plummeted to freezing levels. She revealed that Bachchan, ever the considerate leader, insisted on special tents being set up for the crew to ensure their comfort and well-being.

Ahluwalia was effusive in her praise for Bachchan's performance in 'Shoebite', describing it as one of the finest of his illustrious career. The film, which remains unreleased, is based on M. Night Shyamalan's story 'Labour of Love' and follows the journey of a man in his early 60s, played by Bachchan, who embarks on a path of self-discovery. Ahluwalia admitted that she was moved to tears by his portrayal. Calling his punctuality an inspiration, she added, “We used to be five minutes late, but he’d be 10 minutes early. And the respect that he used to give to the crew, the light boys, everyone. Amazing is the word. It was snowing in Manali, frightfully cold. They’d erected a tent especially for him, and he said, ‘What about the others? Arrange tents for them too. Bring them angithis’.”


Dolly Ahluwalia also lauded Amitabh Bachchan's remarkable ability to transform in front of the camera, even after patiently waiting for hours before a shot. She noted that Kareena Kapoor Khan possesses the same 'magic'.

Currently, Amitabh Bachchan is riding high on the success of his latest blockbuster 'Kalki 2898 AD'. Inspired by Hindu scriptures, this film also stars Kamal Haasan, Prabhas, Deepika Padukone and Disha Patani. 'Kalki 2898 AD', which is directed by Nag Ashwin, has minted over Rs 1000 crore at the worldwide box office.
