Dhanashree Verma says 'I have been off sugar' while hinting at Yuzvendra Chahal's T-shirt: 'Who doesn’t want money?'
Dhanashree Verma finally shared her truth about her marriage on the popular reality show "Rise & Fall." Despite facing constant disrespect, she consciously chose not to retaliate, revealing her emotional side as one of the contestants following her recent divorce from cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal.
Respect during marriage
In the show, Dhanashree said, “When you are in marriage, then you are responsible ki dusre person ka bhi respect aapke haath mein hota hai. Chah kar main bhi disrespect kar sakti thi. (When you are in marriage, then you are responsible that the respect of the other person is also in your hands. I could have also disrespected if I wanted to). You think I don’t have things to say as a woman, but he was my husband. I respected even when I was married and I have to respect it now that I was married to him”.
Off sugar but not off money
Additionally, Dhanashree once again grabbed the spotlight when she revealed that although she has given up sugar, she has not given up on money. She said, “I think it’s time people should know that I do not like sugar, I have been off sugar. People have tagged me with a lot of names here and there. Logon ko kuch pata hi nahi hai mere baare mein.” However, she did not hesitate to admit, “Paisa to bahut important hai, (money is very important) who doesn’t want money?”. Her comment refers to the time when Chahal wore a T-shirt that said “Be Your Own Sugar Daddy” during their final divorce hearing, drawing a lot of attention.
Dhanashree and Chahal’s marriage and divorce
Dhanashree and Chahal's love story began in 2020 during the COVID-19 lockdown when Chahal joined her online dance classes. They got engaged and married in December 2020. Their marriage was cherished by fans with frequent social media appearances. However, by 2022, cracks appeared as they started living separately. In February 2025, they filed for divorce by mutual consent and officially divorced in March 2025, with the court waiving the usual waiting period due to Chahal’s IPL commitments. Their separation was amicable, with an alimony settlement reportedly around Rs 4.75 crore.
Workers vs. rulers on 'Rise and Fall'
