Desi Kattey: An ode to friendship and patriotism

Director Anand Kumar’s latest offering Desi Kattey, featuring Jay Bhanushali and Vinod Khanna’s nephew Akhil Kapur in lead roles, is the story of two orphans who grow up in a remote village, making country guns to earn their livelihood. The film traces their journey, as they go on to become national level shooters.
Kumar says, “I couldn’t see anyone who didn’t connect with the story, producing it.So I decided to do produce it myself, like Aamir Khan did for Lagaan.”

He feels that the movie, with its varied emotions, will strike a chord with the audience. “Every person who believes in friendship, patriotism and is passionate about sports will surely connect with it,” he says.
Rekha Bhardwaj, Ustad Rahat Ali Khan and Shreya Ghoshal have lent their voices to the film’s songs, which have been penned and composed by Kailash Kher.
Desi Kattey, produced by Anand Kumar Productions, releases August 28.
