The trailer of David Dhawan’s upcoming comedy ‘Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai’ has sparked massive discussion online, but not just for its chaotic humour and over-the-top confusion. What truly caught social media’s attention was Mouni Roy appearing as the “fake mother” of Varun Dhawan despite the two actors being almost the same age in real life. The comedy entertainer stars Varun alongside Mrunal Thakur and Pooja Hegde in lead roles and carries the signature loud comic style associated with David Dhawan films.

'Nirupa Roy-like mother' twist goes viral

One particular moment from the trailer quickly became a talking point online. In the scene, Varun’s character asks his friend to arrange a “Nirupa Roy-like” mother for him. Soon after, Mouni Roy enters in a glamorous avatar, revealing herself as the pretend mother figure.



The unusual casting instantly triggered memes and sarcastic reactions across social media platforms.

Varun Dhawan starrer promises confusion and comic chaos

The trailer hints at a full-blown comedy of errors revolving around relationships, deception and unexpected pregnancies. Varun’s character is shown wanting to start a family with his wife, played by Mrunal Thakur, while simultaneously getting involved with Pooja Hegde’s character.

As both women reportedly become pregnant, the story spirals into confusion, misunderstandings and exaggerated comic situations.

The film’s title itself is inspired by the iconic song ‘Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai’ from David Dhawan’s 1999 hit ‘Biwi No. 1’, starring Salman Khan, Karisma Kapoor and Sushmita Sen.

Apart from the lead cast, the film also features Maniesh Paul, Chunky Pandey and Jimmy Sheirgill in important roles. Meanwhile, the movie has also found itself in legal trouble. Producer Vashu Bhagnani, who backed ‘Biwi No. 1’, has reportedly filed a lawsuit alleging unauthorised usage of elements connected to his earlier films and songs. Despite the controversy, ‘Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai’ is currently scheduled for a theatrical release on June 4.
