'Crew' music directors REACT to Ila Arun's comments on 'Choli Ke Peeche' remix: 'She has voiced her issue...'
Rajesh Krishnan’s recent directorial venture 'Crew,' starring Tabu, Kareena Kapoor, and Kriti Sanon, has been running successfully in theaters for the last nine days. The film garnered attention ever since pictures and glimpses of the bold trio were shared on social media. Now, the film's success is being attributed to two old tracks of Rajasthani folk-pop singer Ila Arun.
Ila Arun’s songs ‘Choli Ke Peeche’ and ‘Ghagra’ were used in the ‘Crew’ album with certain reworks. Ila was clearly astonished after listening to the recreation.
Akshay Raheja and IP Singh, who created the ‘Crew’ tracks, reacted, stating that they tried to maintain the integrity of Arun's and Alka Yagnik's voices in the remix. Akshay told India Today that Ila Arun was not informed about the remix, and that matters most to her. She did not complain about the song or the lyrics but the label didn't inform her. Akshay also paid his respects to the legendary singer. IP Singh also mentioned that the misunderstanding is between Ila and the label. Singh supported the remix culture, saying that she could not find any harm in it. She pointed out that sometimes the remix receives more appreciation than the original. She called it a choice for the audience's side.
The singer had earlier opened up to India Today about this new version and its approach as something to reach out to the younger generation. At the same time, she posed a question about the need for such adaptations. Why do people resort to this to cater to what the new generations are looking for? She wonders why they can't create their own songs. According to her, young directors should create energetic, powerful songs that can connect with the new generation. Ila believes that DJs spoil songs by recreating them.
