1/7

‘Coolie No. 1’ (1995)

David Dhawan’s ‘Coolie No. 1’ has maintained its crown as one of Bollywood's greatest comedies. The extreme comic madness from Govinda, infused with the sassiness and glamour of Karisma, made them a riot together on-screen. Songs like ‘Main Toh Raste Se Ja Raha Tha’ and ‘Husn Hai Suhana’ were more than just top five songs; they were fist-pumping anthems on the street. This film set the mood for their paired awesomeness for the rest of the 90s, making them the ultimate comedy duo.

2/7

‘Hero No. 1’ (1997)

If Govinda was the king of comedy, then ‘Hero No. 1’ gave him his crown. Who can forget his brand of humor, the sweetest romance, and fun dance sequences? Karisma's elegance and grace perfectly balanced Govinda's insane chaos and sparkly energy. Songs like ‘Sona Kitna Sona Hai’ and ‘Maine Paayal Jo Chhankayi’ became instant wedding songs. Together, they made the film a laughter-packed family entertainer that still remains a guilty pleasure for many fans.

3/7

‘Raja Babu’ (1994)

In Raja Babu, Govinda exhibited his signature type of comedy, with the always vibrant Karisma supporting him. The goofy chemistry of the two made every scene enjoyable, and the songs Sarkaaye Lo Khatiya and Tu Tu Tutu Tara are still famous for their fun value. Govinda showed that he could deliver belly laughs in those antics that a mere mortal could not even possibly come close to, and Karisma matched Govinda's vibes trying to make everything funny. They created wonderful masala magic that had people laughing until they were in tears.

4/7

‘Haseena Maan Jaayegi’ (1999)

This laugh riot saw Govinda and Karisma collaborate with Sanjay Dutt in a brilliant story of mistaken identities and melodramatic hijinks. Govinda's comedic genius is unparalleled, and Karisma's looks and charm simply dazzled throughout the whole movie, including the catchy title songs 'What is Mobile Number?' and 'Haseena Maan Jaayegi' that became such huge hits of their time and of the youth cult. The mania of the film is suitable for its nutty comedy sequences and colorful dance moves, which earned it a place as one of Bollywood's most well-loved comedy films of the '90s.

5/7

‘Sajan Chale Sasural’ (1996)

‘Sajan Chale Sasural’ was one of Govinda's most successful comedies, with him managing his two wives in a funny tale of confusion. Karisma was the ideal wife with her elegant and sassy manner that worked well with Govinda's over-the-top antics. Songs like ‘Dil Jaan Jigar Tujhpe Nisaar’ and ‘Aap Ka Aana Dil Dhadkana’ had the perfect balance of romance and fun. Audiences were in splits at the film, yet again proving their unbreakable chemistry.

6/7

‘Shikari’ (2000)

Stepping away from their typical comedic zone, ‘Shikari’ was a thriller that shocked audiences. Govinda played a rare dark and intense role, while Karisma showed intensity through emotion that proved her versatility as an actress. Although they were not in a song-driven film like they had been known for, it was a true standout film because, as a duo, they broke away from their comic image. It was and remains one of their most daring experiments together as they evolved as an on-screen duo.

7/7

‘Khuddar’ (1994)

'Khuddar' was action, drama, and romance—in other words, it was different from the other common Govinda-Karisma comedies. Their on-screen chemistry stood out during the more emotional scenes, while songs like 'Main Tera Saajan Tu Meri Saajni' added a unique flavor to the drama. It may not have been celebrated like their other comedic films, but this film allowed the on-screen couple to tell more serious stories with the same level of conviction, which proved their versatility, allowing them to remain dear to the hearts of their fans.
