Civic Studios Builds a Climate Media Ecosystem to Drive Impactful Storytelling
Based out of Mumbai and London, Civic Studios has previously produced acclaimed projects including Gurinder Chadha’s international musical feature Christmas Karma, the UK’s Oscar entry Santosh, and IFFR NETPAC Award winner Schirkoa: In Lies We Trust.
Civic Studios’ latest short film, It’s Only 47°C, explores climate inequality through the story of traffic constable Laxman Chaubey. Set in a city pushed to its breaking point by extreme heat, an exhausting shift reveals a brutal truth: climate change is not endured equally.
Starring award-winning actor Sharib Hashmi (The Family Man), the film is written and directed by Tej Sisodia, produced by Naseeruddin Shah and Anushka Shah, and executive produced by Harish Borah. Anchored by a powerful poem by Swanand Kirkire, the film offers an intimate and deeply human portrait of climate inequality in urban India.
The screening will take place on February 4, 2026, at Redbulb Studios, Andheri West, followed by a panel discussion featuring Tej Sisodia, Naseeruddin Shah, Harish Borah, Akshata Samant, and Shishir Joshi (CEO & Founder, Project Mumbai). The session will be moderated by filmmaker Devashish Makhija.
It’s Only 47°C is part of Civic Studios’ larger mission to use compelling storytelling to spark public engagement and drive climate awareness and action. Central to this vision is the creation of a Climate Media Ecosystem—a multi-platform approach designed for scale and long-term impact.
Speaking about the project, Anushka Shah, CEO and Founder of Civic Studios, said,
“As Civic Studios, we came on board to produce this film because of its stark reminder that heat doesn’t affect the rich and the poor equally. The film is part of our larger slate of climate change stories aimed at galvanising urgent climate action.”
“I would not think twice before supporting such a project because it is made with honest concern and conviction.”
