Banker turned author Amish Tripathi who has several other Bollywood offers of writing scripts, feels "that a lot of contemporary English writing is now being adapted on the screen since film makers have now realised that a good story makes a difference. The chances of success of such movies, which are called concept movies, is much higher and books are best place to pick up good stories.
On the other hand stories till the recent past in English writing were not connected to India. It was like a British publishing industry that happened to be based in India , it wasn’t really an Indian publishing industry. Most Indians did not feel connected with this English writing.Since the last few years writers have become much more Indian. We are now finding stories of our call centres, about our mythology , historical characters in English writing. These stories are much more Indian so both the film and book industry are coming together .With books getting more and more visibility has also led to people from diverse field taking to book writing," he says.
