Exclusive! Boney Kapoor reveals four producers are behind Janhvi Kapoor for Chaalbaaz's remake; adds, 'I was keen to remake it with Deepika Padukone'

For a while, the news of the remake of Chaalbaaz (1989), has been doing the rounds. There was also buzz about Janhvi Kapoor stepping into her mom’s shoes for the iconic double role. When we reached out to Janhvi's producer father Boney Kapoor, he told us, “I have no idea. There are many people who've been wanting to do Chaalbaaz with Janhvi. I don't know if she's made any commitment. But for sure there were more than three people who were after her to do it. And the fourth person was me.”Explaining why he didn't go ahead with the remake back them, he added, “It is not an easy film to do. We've to upscale it, modernize it, and make it todays film.”Ironically at one point it was even announced that actress Shraddha Kapoor would be leading the remake title Chaalbaaz in London. The movie is currently shelved. On her name being linked to the project earlier, he said, “I can't comment on that.”' I wanted to remake Chaalbaaz with Deepika Padukone'For now, the producer insists that the chatter around Janhvi is “too premature.” “And I have not even yet spoken to Janhvi because I've been traveling. I'm in Delhi right now. I know for sure that even at one point I was keen, in fact, I was keen to do it with Deepika (Padukone). But it didn't materialize. So now there are people, and producers who are keen to do it with Janhvi," he concluded.
