The mythological animation drama directed by Ashwin Kumar, Mahavatar Narimsha continues to show resistance at the box office as the film just completed it’s 8th weekend/ . The film as per Sacnilk had minted Rs 11 lakh on its 50th day and saw a more than 100 % jump on 41st day to collect Rs 26 lakh and on 52nd day the collection jumped by more than 60 % to earn Rs 43 lakh, thus taking the overall collection of the film to Rs 249.95 crore. THe film missed the Rs 250 crore mark by just Rs 5 lakh during its 8th weekend at the box office. The reimagined story of Lord Narsimha, Bhakt Prabhlad and Hiranyakashyap has already become the highest grossing animation of India and as it crosses the Rs 250 crore mark- it will be the first animation film to do so.The film was released in multiple languages like Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and it hit the theaters a week after the release of Mohit Suri, Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda’s Saiyaara. It has survived films like Rajinikanth's Coolie, Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR's War 2 and Dulquer Salmaan and Kalyani Priyadarshan's Lokah: Chapter 1- Chandra. The Hindi version has been the major engine for its dominance at the box office. The Hindi version has contributed Rs 187.50 crore in 52 days and has become the 50th highest grossing Hindi film of all time. While the Kannada version has contributed Rs 9.86 crore, Telugu version is at Rs 49.12 crore , Tamil at Rs 2.91 crore and Malayalam version at Rs 56 lakh.

The success of Mahavatar Narimsha has opened the floodgates for Indian Mythology animation. On Wednesday itself two major animation projects were announced one was on Lord Hanuman called Vayuputra releasing on Dusshera 2026 and other being an animation series called Kuruskshetra- a reimagined version of The Mahabharata. This could be the turning point for Indian animation.
