Some behind the scenes facts about 'Yamla Pagla Deewana'...1. The Deols played their part in ‘Yamla Pagla Deewana’ free of cost and didn’t ask for money. However, they will only charge according to the revenue earned by the movie.

Dharmendra didn’t like the script of the movie in the beginning and so director Samir Karthik had to re-work on it. Then, he again presented it to Dharmendra with some changes who finally agreed.
Though, Sunny and
Bobby Deol liked the script when they heard it for the first time only.
3. Patiala’s shooting set had to be reconstructed as Dharmendra fell sick. Then again, another set was dismantled and reconstructed due to Sunny Deol’s back problem.
4. Dharamji and Johny Lever, known for their spontaneous humour made a comedy scene improvised as it went beautifully with the script. In that scene, Dharmendra asks Johny Lever to get a piece of jewellery for a woman whom he thinks as good as a wife. To this, Johny asks the age and skin tone of the lady and Dharamji spontaneously replies, “Arre yaar tu painting karne wala hai kya”. This was never the part of the script but it was added later on.
5. There was a long debate for the title of the film. Producers suggested titles such as ‘Made In Punjab’, ‘Punjabi By Nature’ but then, director of the film
Samir Karnik finally suggested ‘Main jat yamla pagla deewana’ to which Dharmendra removes ‘Main jat’ and we finally got ‘Yamla Pagla Deewana’.
6. In the title song of the film, Dharmendra has also done his famous step with lifting up one held followed by other.
7. Director Samir Karnik didn’t get time take a nap or change his clothes for three consecutive days as he was so busy in doing the post-production work of the film.
8. Once a journalist linked Samir Karnik and Kulraj Randhaw, who is film’s lead actress. Reacting to this, Samir went to the court against the journalist and the newspaper.
