The lungs of Mumbai will be slashed as the government authorities start to cut down the Aarey forest. Many Bollywood celebs had made their statements against the government's move to make a car shed in Aarey for Mumbai Metro.
And now, the officials have begun the deforestation. The locals have reached the venue and the protest is going on there right now.
Also, Bombay High Court has dismissed all the petitions against BMC and state government's decision to clear the forest area.
Bollywood celebs like
Dia Mirza,
Vishal Dadlani, Swara Bhasker, Ashoke Pandit and more took to their
Twitter account to express their anger and sadness over the same.
Sharing a video, Vishal Dadlani requested PM
Narendra Modi and CM
Devendra Fadnavis to listen to the public's demand. He wrote, "#AareyForest is being murdered right now, in the dead of night. @narendramodi @devendra_fadnavis, please don't do this. Please make one call and get this stopped, at least until the SC has a chance to review the petitions.
Please show us that you care about us. About our health, about our air, about our future."
Alia Bhatt and Sidharth Malhotra also took to their social media handles to share their anger towards the unfortunate incident.
Dia Mirza posted, "Isn’t this illegal!?! This is happening at #Aarey right now. Why? How? @AUThackeray @mybmc @CMOMaharashtra"
She further added, "There is supposed to be a 15 day waiting period after permission is granted and notice has been uploaded on official website. But there is no waiting here. Our trees are being cut as citizens desperately plead to STOP this! @moefcc @PrakashJavdekar #Aarey".
Onir, "In the cover of darkness the axe falls on our trees. RIP #AareyForest ... we failed you. My heart breaks to know that by morning many proud erect trees will have fallen to human greed. "
Filmmaker Ashoke Pandit tweeted, "We mourn the demise of 3000 trees at #AareyForest. It’s a sad day for all those who considered trees as part of their lives, who considered trees as one of d biggest gift of Nature God. MUMBAI will pay the price for this destruction and we will suffer helplessly. @ConserveAarey".
Sadly #AareyForest will be a dream as 3000 trees are being massacred. @ConserveAarey
