Assistant director of Panther Panchali passes away

KOLKATA: Veteran journalist and assistant director of Panther Panchali Asish Burman, died on Wednesday in a city hospital, family sources said.

<div class="section1"><div class="Normal">KOLKATA: Veteran journalist and assistant director of <span style="" font-style:="" italic="">Panther Panchali</span> Asish Burman, died on Wednesday in a city hospital, family sources said. <br />Burman (75), a littérateur with a large number of works to his credit is survived by wife and son. <br />He was also a well known script writer and worked along with film director Mrinal Sen in his films <span style="" font-style:="" italic="">Interview</span>, <span style="" font-style:="" italic="">Punoscho</span>, <span style="" font-style:="" italic="">Akash Kusum</span> and <span style="" font-style:="" italic="">Padatik</span>.<br />The last rites of Burman, who was also the Kolkata correspondent of now defunct Patriot were performed on Thursday.
